Die Motive der Serie entstanden allesamt in Schrebergärten entlang der Rems, einem kleinen Fluss in der Nähe Stuttgarts. Sie erzählen von Glück, Vergänglichkeit, Liebe & Tod. Hinter dem Sichtbaren das Seelische spürbar machen, frei von Verfremdungen und Nachbearbeitungen. 

The motifs of the series were all created in allotment gardens along the Rems, a small river near Stuttgart. They tell of happiness, transience, love and death. Making the spiritual tangible behind the visible, free from alienation and post-processing.

Was setzen sie noch frei in unserem Hirn, das sich doch alltäglich mit visuellem Ballast in der Größenordnung millionenfacher Gigabites durch die Zeiten quält? Seine Arbeiten kreieren Wohllaute, sind wärmebildende friedensstiftende Betrachtungen, die uns schmunzelnd immer einen zweiten Blick abfordern und dabei mit großer bildnerischer Poesie das Freiheitssehnen aller Beteiligten augenzwinkernd aufs Fotopapier zaubern."

"What is it that Stefan Mayer's pictures make music for? What else do they set free in our brains, which are tormented by visual ballast on the order of millions of gigabites every day? His works create pleasant sounds, are warmth-building, peacemaking contemplations that always demand a second look, smiling, and at the same time conjure up the longing for freedom of all those involved on the photographic paper with great pictorial poetry and a twinkle in the eye."
